WATERTOWN DAILY TIMES " Nonna Dina Pizzeria to open in Sackets Harbor" By MARCUS WOLF

Nick Ciambra, who owns New York Pizzeria in Gouverneur, said he, his sister Vita V. Cannella, who owns and manages Nonna Dina Pizzeria in Brownville, and his nephew Paolo Cannella, who owns and manages Original Italian Pizza in Watertown, will open a second Nonna Dina Pizzeria in the Madison Barracks, 104 Bartlett Road, and feature the same menu as the Brownville restaurant.

“We’ve been in the business for 23 years and we’re always trying to expand,” Paolo Cannella said. “It’s pretty exciting.”

The family decided to open another pizzeria in the village of Sackets Harbor after reviewing several locations because the facility, which is owned by Lawler Realty LLC, already had most of the equipment they needed.

Mr. Ciambra said his family also saw a potential market in the village for their old-fashioned pizzas, which they make with hand-stretched dough and bake in brick ovens. Mr. Cannella said they chose to open another Nonna Dina Pizzeria because it is the most recognizable of their three businesses for nearby customers.

Mr. Ciambra said he, Mrs. Ciambra, Paolo and his father Joseph Cannella, who also owns the new restaurant, signed a lease for the property in January.“When (the property) became available, we started to talk about it,” said Michael W. Campbell, a managing property agent for Lawler Realty. “This is a great tenant. A great addition to the barracks.”

The owners plan to operate their pizzeria year-round during the evenings with six to seven employees.

Customers will be able to place their order for takeout at the counter or eat in at one of three tables, Mr. Ciambra said. He also said they intend to set up outdoor seating on their patio in the summer.

While the restaurant will serve Nonna Dina Pizzeria’s homemade pizza, chicken wings, salads and hot sandwiches, Mr. Ciambra said he hopes to add more menu items this summer, including ice cream for dessert. Paolo Cannella said the pizzeria may serve more traditional Italian dishes in the future.

“We try to stick with the old-fashioned way, which I think is the best way to make pizza anyway,” Mr. Ciambra said.

The restaurant will be open 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
